Case Study : Dr. Mahesh Krishnamurthy

Dr. Mahesh Krishnamurthy is giving a detailed account of his progress after one year of his participation in the "tranceformation" program. We can see the gradual pattern of his achievements and also some downfall during his third post-workshop meeting, at the time of his M.D. examination.

FEEDBACK

"Dear Sir, 

I first met you in Aug 2001. I came to you with the hope of getting solutions to the problems I was facing. The problems which I narrated at length to you were: 

(1) Lack of confidence in general

(2) Feeling severe anxiety while talking to seniors, elderly people or groups of people (public speaking)

(3) Inability to express my views and feelings and inability to influence people

(4) Nail biting

After a patient listening to all my problems, you suggested me to participate in your Holistic Stress Manage & Self-Development (tranceformation) workshop. From the first dat of the workshop, I somehow developed complete trust on you. I attended all the days of the workshop with keen interest. I rapidly progressed thereon. During the last three days I became more active, confident and started to enjoy myself. My mind started to think better. It was as if a bird was released from the cage and flew away to freedom. I saw beautiful images and vivid colours, when I closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I could make out the difference it made to myself & my mind. It lifted my spirits, made me happy and more confident. All my friends in the workshop also appreciated if and felt happy. I followed all your instructions to the extent possible.

You advised me to practice the following techniques:

(1) PMR once a day regularly

(2) Butterfly image

(3) ECC vs. TTF frequently

(4) Ego purification auto-suggestions and Irrational Beliefs

After the workshop, I had three personal visits with you and will give a brief account of the same below:

Post-workshop Visit - 1 (2 months after the workshop)

I practiced all the techniques but not very consistently. Many a times, I could not sustain relaxation in my practice of PMR, but I started enjoying it more. I practiced Butterfly image a few times only. I enjoyed doing ECC vs. TTF and Aim chanting as and when I could.

The outcome was:

(1) Overall, I continued to feel better, more confident, developing positive attitudes, enjoying whatever I do, and talking better (still faster) with more comfort

(2) My nail biting decreased - didn't bite my nails for last 15 days

(3) I still felt tremors and some anxiety like symptoms but feel confident in handling these symptoms gradually

(4) My mind continued feeling lighter, comfortable and relaxed

(5) I started walking with a more confident posture, sitting and talking with more ease

Post-workshop Visit - 2 (After 3 months of the workshop)

(1) Feeling more relaxed and comfortable. I could feel relaxation in my muscles.

(2) Nail biting stopped completely, but I continued to bite my lips at times

(3) I started reminding myself to constantly be relaxed and comfortable at all times

(4) I continued Progressive Muscular Relaxation practice

(5) I started thinking more coherently, using more logic & reasoning and started asking more questions to find answers

(6) I started applying "Panchkosha" concept to many aspects of my life, viz. relationship with friends, watching TV and others. I found myself to be less emotionally disturbed, less frustrated and less angry

(7) Started developing a positive self-image with more laughter and smiles on my face

(8) Previously I used to talk very fast without thinking or taking a breath. Now, I am making efforts to talk slowly, take breath in between, think clearly and use appropriate words.

Post-workshop Visit - 3 (After 4 months of the workshop, just prior to my M.D. examination)

(1) I had increased my practice of self-hypnosis - listening to the sessions 2-3 times a day. I also improved in my degree of relaxation

(2) I was feeling some tension and unknown fear

(3) I did bite my nails 2-3 times, but was able to control it again

(4) Compared to my first visit, I was feeling more confident, improved my relaxation and trance depth and usually I was not going off to sleep during trance

(5) I took my M.D. exams more confidently with a relaxed and comfortable state of mind and cleared my exams easily

Apart from these three personal visits, I attended all the follow-up monthly meeting of Samatvam Parivar. It was somewhat a booster to continue my efforts to become a healthier person.

Report on my progress during the last 3-4 months after the exams:

(1) I am continuing to feel confident of myself and my future

(2) There is addition of more laughter & smiles in my life

(3) I am feeling happy as I am getting rid of all my problems and achieving the desired goals

(4) I am now using positive words in my communication and self-talk. I replaced my "have to's" by "want to's"

(5) I have started helping my patients, family members and friends by asking them to search for the solutions rather than brooding over the complaints and problems. I convey them that happiness is a state of mind and it does not depend upon the external situations. Several of them have given me a positive feedback.

To tell you retrospectively, I initially came to you because of my fear of public speaking. But, the workshop has transformed me totally. My whole personal, the way I approach my life, the way I look at people, things and happening in my world, everything has changed. I am enjoying my life.
